Using standardized assessments that focus on a variety of cognitive aspects, perception, memory, learning and social/emotional factors, we provide psychotherapy with the goal of improving coping skills, increasing resilience, regulating emotions, controlling impulses, and improving the individual’s quality of life.

We offer a variety of evidence-based services for individuals diagnosed with neurodevelopmental disorders and cognitive or developmental delays. Through assessment and intervention for the following:

Psychological Assessments:
We emphasize the cognitive, emotional, behavioral, and psychological factors that may impact an individual’s performance. Clinical tests are often conducted to assist in diagnosis and provide a comprehensive formulation to guide a personalized treatment plan.

Academic Psychological Assessments:
Academic psychological assessments (also known as educational evaluations) focus on assessing cognitive, academic, and emotional performance within an educational context. These assessments aim to identify learning difficulties, developmental delays, and emotional challenges that may impact academic performance and overall cognitive development.

Neuropsychological Assessments:
Neuropsychological assessments measure cognitive performance and explore the relationship between the brain and behavior. These evaluations are often used when there are concerns regarding neurodevelopmental disorders (e.g., Autism Spectrum Disorder, ADHD), neurological conditions (e.g., dementia, stroke, epilepsy), brain injuries, or other cognitive impairments linked to brain function. This type of testing assesses cognitive domains such as memory, attention, executive functioning, language, visuospatial skills, processing speed, and motor abilities.

Common Psychological Disorders Treated:

Depression: Characterized by persistent feelings of sadness, hopelessness, and a lack of interest in previously enjoyed activities. Our therapists utilize cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) and other modalities to help clients develop coping strategies and improve their mood.

Anxiety Disorders: This group includes generalized anxiety disorder, panic disorder, and social anxiety disorder. Symptoms often manifest as excessive worry, panic attacks, or avoidance of specific situations. Our psychotherapists work with clients to identify triggers and utilize techniques such as cognitive restructuring, exposure therapy, and mindfulness technique.

Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD): Developed after experiencing a traumatic event, PTSD can lead to flashbacks, anxiety, and emotional distress. We offer trauma-informed care, helping clients process their experiences in a safe environment.

Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD): This disorder involves unwanted, intrusive thoughts (obsessions) and repetitive behaviors (compulsions). Through both CBT and exposure and response prevention (ERP) therapy, we guide clients in managing their symptoms effectively

Bipolar Disorder: Characterized by extreme mood swings that include emotional highs (mania) and lows (depression). Our therapists provide supportive counseling and help clients develop strategies for managing mood stability, and managing impulsive behaviors.

Eating Disorders: Conditions like anorexia nervosa, bulimia nervosa, and binge-eating disorder are characterized by disturbed eating behaviors and body image issues. We work with clients to form a healthier relationship with food, increasing coping skills, increasing self-esteem, and utilizing cognitive restructuring techniques in analyzing eating behavior and related thoughts and triggers.

Attention-Deficit Hyperactive Disorder: It is a neurodevelopmental disorder that starts from childhood and continues to adulthood. It is characterized by difficulty sustaining attention, hyperactivity, and impulsive behavior. The therapist works with clients to  provide strategies and supportive plans that aid in academic performance, social relationships, increase impulse-control, enhance emotional regulation, improve planning and organizational skills, and manage their symptoms.

Psychotic disorders: They are mental health conditions that affect an individual's perception of reality. Individuals with these disorders may experience hallucinations, delusions, and disorganized thinking, which can significantly impair their ability to function. Therapists employ various therapeutic techniques, such as cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), supportive therapy, and psychoeducation, to help patients manage symptoms, improve coping strategies, improve daily living functioning and social interaction, and enhance their quality of life.
